Chef Johnny Honda and HAPI are serving up Rockin’ Ramen 2 Go, on Monday, March 8, from 10:30-11:45 A.M. as part of the Zero to Fierce Women’s Festival, at the Arcata Playhouse. Purchase a $10 ticket through the Playhouse website, choice of pork tonkotsu or vegetarian. Pre-orders only, taken up until March 5 or until we sell out!
After you pick up your ramen to go, watch The Lunchbox Show, My Wild Escape, featuring Patti Johnson, 12-1 P.M., March 8. Go to the Festival website to register, and you will be sent a Zoom link. A love story that leads one woman from the couch to the mountains (and why she keeps going back). Patti Johnson shares her personal story of what prompted her to get up, go camping and write a book.
Rockin’ Ramen 2 Go will benefit HAPI and Centro del Pueblo. HAPI evolved from Taiko Swing Humboldt to build and empower our community by amplifying, supporting, and encouraging diverse voices and perspectives to foster a more engaged and inclusive community.
Centro del Pueblo is addressing food insecurity in COVID-19-impacted families by providing wellness boxes for the immigrant community and Indigenous People from the South. The boxes contain: winter protection (blankets, clothing); vitamins; fresh and culturally appropriate food; Covid-19 information in Spanish; prevention materials such as masks and hand sanitizer; traditional recipes and ingredients to prepare remedies to protect the respiratory system; hygienic products; Know Your Rights as An Immigrant in the U.S. information in Spanish, and more.
Centro del Pueblo is a grassroots organization affiliated with the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous People. We are united for the empowerment of the Immigrant community and the Indigenous People from the South. This community-based organization was founded by diverse members of the Latinx immigrants in Humboldt in 2016, and have been active in finding creative solutions to improve our life locally.
